James moved to Dufftown, attracted by the fresh air, open landscape and tremendous dog walks he and Dave (our Sprocker) could enjoy. From meeting we adventured and travelled together. Louise relocated from Aberdeen, the potential to create a life in a small welcoming town and surrounded by tremendous scenery was too hard to resist. We quickly started working together. Literally building Speyside Cottages from the ground up with our first project, The Milking Sheds.
We love to travel, finding wee gems of accommodation and local experiences.
We want to create and share these elements from our Speyside region with you.
By refurbishing properties we know it inside and out and we look to provide a delight factor in each of our homes. These are homes we’d love to stay in and want to share with others.
We appreciate the personal connection when we are traveling so we do our best to provide this for our guests, with local information or connecting guests with local businesses for authentic experiences. We can help with plans in advance or during your trip. In the heart of Dufftown, The Milking Sheds & Ben Shea Smart home provide an ideal base to explore our glorious countryside. Take in the malt whisky trail, enjoy historic walks, go mounting biking, hill climbing, fishing & skiing – there really is something for everyone.
We renovated Ben Shea working alongside Go Home Smart to provide a unique and stylish setting. It is an experience in itself with many intelligent smart features making for a welcoming home.
Set at the picturesque harbour of Findochty is our Couthy Harbour House, a warm welcome awaits. A charming little fishing village on the Moray coastal trail, with stunning beaches, golf, walks and surrounding towns to explore.
And everyone enjoys a city break at times, or has the necessity for a first & last stop as you journey into the Scottish Highlands. Our City Apartment with rural charm is located in Aberdeen City. A mile to the centre, but with tremendous amounts of green space, parks, old railway lines and more to explore as well as the hustle bustle of the city a short distance away.
We love our four legged friends and know it can be important to you too, as such the majority of our locations are welcoming of your well-behaved dogs.

Coutryside, Seaside or City there is fresh air and plenty of space to explore. Whether it is a hike up Ben Rinnes, a custom whisky walk, coastal trail or ambling along the Isla way before enjoying a dram, there is something for everyone. Need help with plans, ideas or local bookings just let us know. What do you fancy?
In Dufftown our 3 homes can host for 10 guests, enabling single household stays too. Plan for outdoor BBQs, detox in nature with walks and laughter, it’s a perfect backdrop for family, friends and groups. Hoped to host for more guests, ask about our Guest House or neighbouring properties
When it comes to our bedrooms the biggest features are their luxurious Speyside beds – which are the same as the Savoy!
The single beds ideal for friends can all be made into sumptuous Super King beds.
Couthy Harbour Home is ideal for families looking to enjoy the sand between their toes & playing in the salt air, before relaxing in the large social kitchen, dining, living and garden space. Sleeping up to 6 and well-behaved dogs welcome this is a perfect family holiday coastal retreat.
The Milking Sheds can have a travel cot supplied for infants. For those happy with a cosy cosy cottage, the sofa bed can be used for a 3rd guest
Ben Shea Smart Home is a teenagers delight with Smart TVs throughout, reliable WiFi and ease of airplay music streaming. Not to mention all the smart features that can be customised. A wood burner makes for cosy evenings too.
Aberdeen City Apartment lends itself well to family holidays with its peaceful location, Ferryhill within the heart of the City. Tire out playing at Duthie Park and enjoy the wonders of its diverse Winter Gardens. Local family-friendly pub walking distance. A short drive takes you to Union Sq or the beach boulevard and its range of leisure and amusement options for fun bowling, a movie or crazy golf.
From glorious countryside to stunning coastal location and even a city break option – where would you like to explore?
We are embracing guidelines and best practices for our holiday homes. In addition to our typical high standard of cleaning we have implemented BS EN 14476 certified products for an additional disinfectant phase. This includes a food safe version used in the kitchen.
We don’t want to overwhelm with detail, as ultimately you are on holiday to relax and ‘get away from it all’. We have risk assessments in place and are happy to share any further information or answer any questions you have.
Each home operates a self-check in policy as standard. A range of cleaning materials are supplied in each home for your use throughout your stay.
We have the perfect location in any of our homes for a romantic break.

No third party holds your deposit or payment. No hour long wait to call centres. Standard terms of cancellation are 100% refund until 2 weeks prior to your arrival date. Thereafter we will endeavour to re-let your dates and make a relative refund based on this. Due to Covid travel restrictions in your home area or ours then worry-free date changes can be made at any time and if it’s within 2 weeks of arrival we can still provide a Covid refund too.
